At Sunny Days Academy, every family brings something meaningful to our classroom community. Through our Family Multicultural Project, children are invited to learn about one another by sharing the traditions, memories, and experiences that make their families special.
About the Family Multicultural Project
This project gives children a chance to celebrate their family culture in a way that feels personal and age-appropriate. With support from their families, students choose something meaningful to share with classmates, such as a holiday celebration, favorite recipe, music, dance, family story, traditional clothing, or a special tradition their family created together.
Ways Children Can Share
- Bring in an object from home that represents a family tradition or culture.
- Share a favorite food, recipe, or photos from a meaningful family meal.
- Create a poster with pictures, drawings, and stories.
- Give a short classroom presentation about why a tradition is important to their family.
Family Involvement
Parents and caregivers play an important role in helping children prepare. Families may help create posters, practice short presentations, share stories, visit the classroom, or send a voice recording with a song, prayer, greeting, or message in their home language.
Projects like this help children build kindness, respect, inclusion, and a deeper understanding of the many backgrounds that make our school community so special.
